Public Opinion

Definition

Public opinion is the opinion of a group of people or synthesis of one's opinion and was obtained from a social discussion of the parties that have regard to the interests. Aggregate of attitudes and beliefs are usually adopted by the adult population. In determining public opinion, which is calculated is not the number of majority (numerical majority), but the majority of the effective (effective majority).
The subject of public opinion is controversial new problem in which the elements of public opinion is: a controversial statement, on a matter that is conflicting, and the first reaction / new ideas.
 
Principle approach to the study of public opinion can be divided into four categories: quantitative measure of the distribution of research opinion on the internal coherence between individual opinion forming public opinion on an issue or a description of the analysis of the public role of public opinion study of both the medium of communication that gave rise to the idea that the basis of the opinion and the media use by actors propaganda and manipulation.
According to Dan Nimmo, personal opinion consists of verbal and non-verbal activity that presents images and individual interpretation of a particular object, usually in the form of the contentious issues. Opinion can be expressed actively or passively. Opinion can be expressed verbally, opens with the words that can be clearly interpreted, or through word choices are very subtle and not directly be interpreted (connotative).
Opinion may also be expressed through behavior, body language, facial expression, written symbols, clothing worn, and by other signs countless, through reference, values, views, attitudes, and loyalty.
Public opinion was identical with the sense of freedom, openness in expressing ideas, opinions, desires, complaints, constructive criticism, and freedom in writing. In other words, public opinion was an effect of freedom in expressing ideas and opinions
